The next Residential Electronics Collection event is Saturday, May 18, at Parkland College, but you’ll want to hop on the internet ASAP: Registration begins at 8 a.m. on Monday, April 8. To register, visit the website.

According to Nichole Millage, Environmental Sustainability Specialist for the City of Champaign, 18 cities and villages in Champaign County have agreed to participate in the event. Residents of these communities are eligible to register: Bondville, Champaign, Fisher, Gifford, Homer, Ivesdale, Ludlow, Mahomet, Ogden, Rantoul, Royal, Sadorus, Savoy, Sidney, St. Joseph, Thomasboro, Urbana, and unincorporated Champaign County.

Millage encouraged residents of other areas to check the website for updated information, as some towns might be added.

More information — including which items are eligible to be recycled — is available here.

Goodwill is offering another electronics option: From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on April 20, Goodwill will accept old and broken computers and computer accessories. Those looking to recycled are advised to look for the semi trailer in the parking lot of the Champaign store at 912 W. Anthony Dr.
