This nine-day celebration of local food will leave you craving more when you discover our award-winning food scene. Whether you crave authentic Italian dishes, Asian-inspired cuisine, or juicy chicken sandwiches, Restaurant Week will satisfy all your hunger pangs.

Just in case the past two weekends wasn’t enough to remind you, January and winter weather go hand-in-hand in Champaign-Urbana.   Just in case we need it again, here’s our guide to The Best Sledding Hills in Champaign-Urbana,  No matter what the weather, you can find plenty of places to play indoors, including some FREE options. Whatever you (and mother nature!) have planned, you’ll find plenty to do in Champaign-Urbana.

What: Schweighart Shootout at Jefferson Middle School 
Where:  Leonhard Center
When:  Friday, Jan. 25, 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.; Saturday, Jan. 26, 9:00 a.m.- 6:00 p.m.
How much: $3 per person, kids 8 and under are FREE
Appropriate for: All ages
Why you should go:  Come watch some of the nation’s top archers compete at the Schweighart Shootout! With over 750 archers registered, this archery tournament is the largest in the State besides the State tournament. 

What: Dr. MLK, Jr. Community Celebration  
Where:  Krannert Center for the Performing Arts Lobby
When: Saturday, Jan. 26, 10:00 a.m. – noon
How much: 
FREE
Appropriate for:  All ages
Why you should go: This event marks the culmination of the week of events commemorating Dr. King’s legacy. The event will have entertainment for those of all ages.

What: Illinois Swimming and Diving Splash Bash
Where: Activities and Recreation Center, Champaign
When: Saturday, Jan. 26, 11:00 a.m.- 1:00 p.m.
How much: FREE
Appropriate for: All ages
Why you should go: Illinois Swimming and Diving host’s their annual Splash Bash on Saturday, January 26, 11:00 a.m. Enjoy a carnival atmosphere with prizes and games for the entire family. Free Buffalo Wild Wings to first 200 fans!  The Illini welcome Nebraska to this meet!

What: Teddy Bear Hospital 
Where: Champaign Public Library
When:  Saturday, Jan. 26, 3:00-5:00 p.m.
How much: FREE
Appropriate for:  All ages
Why you should go:  Bring your favorite stuffed animal in for a check up! VSOP members will check their weight, temperature, and more, plus address any additional troubles your stuffed friend might be having. What: Illini Men’s Gymnastics – Big Ten Champs Day 
Where: Huff Hall, Champaign
When:  Saturday, Jan. 26, 6:00-8:00 p.m.
How much: FREE
Appropriate for: All ages
Why you should go: Join your Illinois Men’s Gymnastics team at Huff Hall on Jan. 26 to celebrate their 2018 Big Ten Championship. 28-time Big Ten Champion t-shirts will be given out to the first 500 fans!

What:  NEA Big Read: The Namesake Kickoff and Exhibit Opening
Where: Spurlock Museum
When:   Sunday, Jan. 27, 1:00 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.
How much: FREE
Appropriate for: All ages
Why you should go:  Join Spurlock Museum for the opening celebration of Champaign-Urbana’s 2019 NEA Big Read community reading program.Visitors can enjoy activities for all ages: share the story of your name, trace your family’s journey of immigration to the United States, and design and write a postcard to loved ones. The#BigReadCU book is The Namesake by Jhumpa Lahiri. The Museum is also pleased to open a new exhibit exploring themes from the novel. From the Subcontinent to the Prairie: Stories of Immigration and Identity runs January 25–May 19.  For more on taking your kids to the Spurlock Museum, click here.
